Hello all Im getting a 1990 colt gl and was wondering if a 4g61 is a motor that will just drop in or do you have to do some changes.

Welcome to the forum. There are differences in wiring, engine mounts and many others. Luckily, the Colt Turbo comes from the factory with a 4g61. If you are new to these cars I strongly recommend doing a lot of reading from threads on this forum. Even if you are familiar with them there is a lot of information to be found here.

Also, the forum requires your location be added to your profile and the mods do enforce that requirement.

tis possible :D. Basically 1/2 the reason why this website is here. Talk to 89mirageman for parts and adapters, if he is still doing it(for the easy way). Otherwise you can get some random parts around the junkyard to do the swap. Normal cost are around 1000-3000 depending on how prepared/patient you are.

No welding/cutting is needed though if you mix/match the right parts.


I really need to make a thread for the swap from start to finish with options. But I still have to rebuild the gallery, and update the site newbie tech articles. :lol: But there is literally thousands of posts about it. If you have any specific questions just shoot'em out here in newbie tech.
