Good afternoon!

I replaced all vacuum hoses hoping it solved rough idle at full stop. Good thing it runs smoother than ever...but not so good is rough idle is still there but somewhat smoothed out a bit. Then engine light went on. I had mechanic do engine check and he said I need clean EGR valve and replace vacuum controller. The car is 1997 Mits mirage 1.5L NA automatic (california emission). What I understood is to remove it then clean it with throttle body cleaner then put it back on along with new gasket. However, I see EGR valve is buried deep in the engine. I wonder how do you gain access to it to remove and reinstall it?

Thanks!

Should be rite on the intake manifold. You should be able to get to it from the top of the motor.
