 Post subject: wally 255 in my 89

ok so im ready to install my wally 255 in my tank..but ive never replaced a fuel pump before in a 89 mirage...this is a newb question so i will accept critisism i did do a search but only found other answers pertaining to the pump...anywho..so i need just a basic step by step on how to go about this...exhaust is out of the way and the rearend is jacked up...what next..?

fantastic..thank you very much...seems so simple when its put into a couple paragraphs..is the pump on top of the tank or on the side?

The pump hanger sits on top. Just remember the orientation of the pump when you take it off the hangar, and mount the walbro the same exact way the stock pump came out.I would recommend you use worm clamps or something metal as opposed to zip ties when you secure the pump to the hangar because the plastic on the zip ties become brittle over time in the tank.

And if you want extra security/power to the pump you could always rewire it. http://www.vfaq.com/mods/pump-rewire-1GFWD.html

edit: just in case.

red on walbro connector goes to black w/white stripe oem pump wires

black on walbro connector goes to black on the oem pump wires

In reality, the fuel lines will be difficult if not impossible to undo because of rust and you'll end up doing it under the car. Try to reuse as much of the factory rubber isolators as possible to keep the noise down and mount it as low as it will go in the cage. Rewire it too, if you don't rewire, you might as well of gotten a 190 instead.

awesome thanks for the tips..ill be doing this tonight. with the laptop next to me..i dont have a 17mm line wrench..can i just lightly coax it loose with a wrench.....this is literally the last mod to get my car back on the road....stoaked guys!

ok so i wimped out on the install..took it to english racing..i was afraid to brake the fittings. they were rusted shut!. soo for a mere 80 bucks ill have them do it...and do it right..just cant say enough bout those guys :prayer: ..dropped off the car and had a beer with lucas and jeff..shot the shit..looked at the 8 sec car and drove off in my subaru... :supz:
