The stock thermostat is a 192 degree so you're not far off. Is you fan running at that temp?

The cars have a high thermostat from the factory to help with emissions. As long as the needle on the gauge doesn't go past 2/3rds you'll be alright. It wouldn't hurt to change your coolant either, the more water the better the cooling, antifreeze is only there to keep it from freezing. Just remember to add antifreeze before winter.

Thanks guys. I figure it wasn't far off. But with it being so HOT outside here I was just making sure. I'm running without a thermasat right now. I have now fan either right now. I'm running a Turbo aluminum ratiator too. Running it like this it never runs over 180F

It is still good to run some antifreeze even in the summer. The boiling point of an antifreeze/water mix is higher than just plain water. Antifreeze also helps with corrosion resistance.

I run straight (filtered) water with a bottle of water wetter. I ran with a half sized honda aluminum radiator. Including a time when it was low 90's out and my fan wasn't working. Kept it cool as long as the car was moving, sitting in the drivethru at mcdonalds for 15 minutes got the temps up to 220ish though.

Half size aluminum. I put a fan on it. It now runs around 170-180. That's without the stat. Too.

Full size with stock fan and a thermostat should run best. Car will be under temp and long term that is not good for oil and fuel control.
Just a thought.
