I'm trying to change my knock sensor and this guy is in the way! I'm thinking of removing it altogether,but I'm not sure if the bolts that go into the back of the head are blocking any oil passages. Are they? I see the same bolts on my GSX. And,was this bracket to to stiffen up the engine I take it on the 1.6's? One side bolts to the tranny and the other bolts to the head,in case the pics below aren't clear enough.

I have no clue what that bracket is.. i just pulled a 1.6 a few days ago and it doenst have that on it.. looks like someone might of added it.

On drag radials.auto trans.launching @ 5 psi and no traction thru 2nd.

Weird. I don't see any parts numbers on it either. I did manage to loosen the knock sensor by removing part of the bracket. There is a spot for it on the mount,that looks stock. Maybe it's something Hyundai?

It comes on them stock. I've seen a couple on unmolested cars in the junk yard before. I've never ran it...

I got one of those in a box of parts that I bought from Rallyguy a few years ago. I knew it bolted to the tranny bracket but never knew where the other side went.

It bolts to the intake manifold,had a bitch of a time getting to the bolt/nut.



Cool it is a stock piece. I don't see much sense in using it now that it's off. And,it didn't matter if I removed it to get to the knock sensor,I still can't fit my hand behind there...but my girlfriend can haha!

Front frame near the LCA's on jack stands and you can reach it with your hand no problem.
