How does the hatch end up weighing more than the sedan, there's two more doors worth of side impact beams and whatnot. :-?

yea like there worth anything!!!!! rolled 16th inch steel is pretty much worthless in a crash.

Usually hatches weigh more than sedans with the exception of i think the crx.

not exactly true in this case

its a 2 door hatch vs a sedan (4 door)

the 2 door hatch usually is (and should be) lighter than a 4 door sedan

Evotistical is right. In most cases the sedans are a little bit lighter. I don't know why, but i've seen it before.

The hatch is the heaviest piece on the rear end of a hatchback, and I can guarantee it is designed heavier for crash intrusion reasons unlike a sedan that has lots of crush room in the trunk area. That's my take on it.

Hatch doesn't weight that much, I picked mine up by myself, maybe 75lbs? I've still got the one I took off, I'll try to weigh it.

I stopped caring :o ...point is, and the answer to the original question is:
a CSM hatch weighs about 200 lbs more than a sedan. :butthead:
