Post subject:  How to: Data logging

I was recently making a datalogger cable and found that almost all the links didn't work. Also the info on the laptop cable was hard to get with all the mixed posts. I'd like to note that these cables DO work. If you have problems then you did somthing wrong. A couple people have said that if they use a thicker gauge of cable it works. Also try not to use really long wires as i first tried and it didn't work. The cables works on any OBD1 Mitsu (Includes the 1.5 Colt!). I have listed the palm software below, if you need the laptop software then I am sure someone on the board will be happy to send it to you.

Heres how to make the datalogging cable:

To use a palm device use this software ttp://mmcdlogger.sourceforge.net/

Is there any devices listed here that do not in fact work, or maybe require more than stated to work? I ask this question because I'm reading mixed things on the intertron about the Sony devices. I purchased a Sony Clie SJ33 because it's touch screen as well as color. It's on the list of supported devices however a thread I was reading on a Stealth/3KGT forum mentioned that getting it to work was like reinventing the wheel. Any thoughts on the Sony vs Palm? Anyone else logging with a Sony? I'm posting this here due to the thread being title "How To".

Why not just go with the TMO logger or MMCD? Both are available through google, and work on the PC.

Do you have an Android phone or tablet with BlueTooth?? If so, then you can use MMCDroid (free app) with the $75 BlueTooth logger. You can log wirelessly, all files are saved as a CSV on your phone. (http://www.frozenapps.com/mitsubtadapter.php)

I connected mine permanently using a plug off my old logger cable.

have you recently purchased the blue tooth adapter or used the software on your phone??
that would be awesome!!

i remember reading on tuners about that app but it seemed everyone was saying it didn't really work
or wasn't available or they gave up on it or something?

i think its such a great idea to get logging software on the smart phones.

also i you mentioned permanently wiring it? was that for the android phone option and instead of the bluetooth adapter?

i would love more info on that.

it seems i entered this dsm csm thing really late as all the info and posts i read iare sooo old.
makes sense i guess everyone is into evo's and wrx's now.

It works. Many gave up because it took the guy a while to develop the adapter. Mine w, though intermittently (I am having a wiring issue to the diag port). The BT Adapter comes with the three wires connected to the metal femal pins it needs to connect to the Diag port. I just put the pins into a male diag port plug, and plugged it in and I leave it there.
