I have a Civic/CRX with a D15B VTEC swap. It's really fast. Granted the car only weighs 1800 lbs but still. That car is really fast. (Not saying that your car isn't, I can imagine that it is with the turbo motor and all.)
d15b crx IS SLOW! nothing fast about it....drive a dodge stealth or 3000gt turbo or nonturbo and then u can say what's "fast"
Neither of yall have a clue what fast is.
What car is fast? Of course the CSM.

I'm going to bring this one back from the dead. I know what fast is. When I was younger my brother in law and I built a 74 Z28 with a fully balanced and blueprinted 400 big block with a dual tunnel ram intake and two Holley 750 CFM double pumpers up top with velocity stacks. Hooker headers and full dual three inch exhaust. The car pushed 627 HP to the ground. Then we moved on to his Firebird. Also, I have to stick up for Hondas even though they are slow unless you put money into them. I own a 92 Civic with the D15B that was in that CRX. I posted a video of it running 0-90, it's fast for what it is. Granted it's not Colt with a 4G63 swap fast but it's fast nonetheless. Oh and the whole reason I am here (which I'm sure alot of you may know) is because I have a 92 Colt which is getting the 4G63t swap as soon as the motor is done being built. I know as soon as I start driving it I'll feel less passionate about my Honda. But my 92 Integra GS with a T3/T4 turbo build was dynoed at 257HP to the wheels and it was really fast. So I can only imagine what this Colt is going to be like. I don't hate on anyone wanting more from their cars. I am just here to learn and get along. We can all learn something from each other.
Peace.

lol i'm grave digging. and what are you talking about? I had my 4g64 20g powered Colt for a while. That thing was pretty fruit and banana fast. then I spun a rod bearing due to when i did the rebuild i reused the oil pump.

and i had my black stealth rt/tt I blew the transmission in, it put down 289awhp.

this question can only be answer base on the hp level. at higher hp the civic are cheaper build and more competitive. i am talking about 500hp+ here.

here is the advantage and disadvantage break down of a 500hp+ car comparison.

-colt need shep tranny=1000-3000 for colt and civic gsr tranny=600-1100
-rods and pistons= about same but slightly cheaper for the civic
-injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, exhaust are the same price but slight advantage to the civic due to many manufacturer
-colt need 4g63t=free to 1500 and civic need b18=free to 1700
-colt really need cams=350 and civic does not need cams due to vtec=0
-colt does not need sleeve=0 and civic need sleeve=1000
-colt need coil over to clear slick=100-300 and civic need axle=300-1000
-colt chassis=200-500 and civic hassis=500-1500
-colt need dsmlink=600 and civic need chrome=150/hondata s200=300
-civic need msd ignition upgrade=350 and dsm does not=0
-colt need valve spring and retainer to turn 8000rpm and civic does not
-ported 4g63t head can cost 1500-3000 but can will not out flow a stock b18c/b16a2 head

there are not much advantage that a colt have over the civic. it cost money to go fast with either car. wehn you get into the 600hp+, the civic gain advantage because you don't have to sport a $6000 dog box tranny or a full $3000.00 race shep/tre tranny. b18c are very efficient and it will make more hp than a 4g63t due the the super efficient head at the same amount of boost. 4g63t will make more torque but once you switch to the short runner intake, they make very close to the same. civic are lighter than a colt. stock grs tranny is so good, it makes shep tranny fells like it is grinding. b18c head can rev to 10k with out a problem. 4g63t heads will run into a problem with breaking the rocker arms and having them jump off at that rpm.

for a few dollar more i would build a civic. for guys on a budget, colt rules.

wow!! i have a friend with a built b16 with $7000k in the motor. i took a stock long block($400) and put down $347whp with $1200 in upgrades. while he made 352whp, so on average cases the 4g63 is cheaper to build. as far as civics being lighter than colts show me that, because i don't believe the hype. i'll rather have a 4g63 powered csm than a civic

your friend is retarded or just scare to make more power. for 7000, you can build a b18 that will make over 700hp.

ls short block=free to 300
sleeve, bore, line hone, and deck=1300
gsr/b16head with rebuild=700
piston and rods=700
rebuild kit=100
t67=800
ram manifold=650 but can be build for half the price
1000cc injector=300
hondata s200=300
down pipe=100
intercooler kit=250
wastegate=250-350
tuned=200-300

remember that to make this kind of power, you will have to spend close tothe same on a 4g63t. i built a b18c for my brother in law which made 735hp on a t67 @33psi. i have not seen a single 4g63t that made that much hp on a t67 before. if i can put a b18c head on my 4g63t, i would do it in a heart beat. b18c head has 300+ degree of duration on it cams. dsm head has 245 degree duration cams and the highest duration for a dsm on the market is 280 degree.

i sold a guy a precision t6765bb turbo to a guy in michigan which he putted it on his civic with a ls/vtec swap. he called me to tell me that he made 363hp on the stock bottom end @ 12psi. bastard! the tuner said he can make 400hp on race fuel if he want to run 15psi.

dsm is cheaper to build but if you know what you are doing on a honda, you don't have to spend much more for some street setup that will compete with most dsm.

I wanted to put a K20A2 in my Civic. They're around 225 hp out of the box. The cheapest one I could find was $6500 JUST for the motor. That didn't include the harness or trans. Plus the trans that goes with that engine is a 6 speed. But when you stop to think about it you can make 225 easily on a d series engine (SOHC VTEC) for about half of that if not less with a turbo kit and it would be just as fast just not as torquey.

well the k20/k24 is a bad ass motor, but we are talking about b18c vs 4g63t. dollar for dollar the 4g63 is better. dr.20 if you think a stock honda tranny can hold 500whp without breaking you are sadly mistaken. i know a local guy here that is putting down 397whp and he has went thru 4 trannies in a year. while i have alot of respect for hondas but to act like they are god's gift to imports is wrong. your list for parts is all bias towards hondas, me being a dsm guy knows you can get parts for cheap for a dsm. my car has no kind of money in it and i can destroy 90% of the hondas here in jacksonville.

I can attest to that. My Integra turbo's tranny went out after 3 months of 256whp. That was a YS1 tranny too. They are supposed to be one of the best non-LSD trannies out there for Honda's.
Oh, and there IS no comparison between a non-turbo B18C1 and a turbo 4G63. Granted a B18C1 or C5 can be built to be a bad ass motor, it is cheaper and more efficient to build an engine that is already setup for turbo. I would rather put $5000 into my 4G61 than a B18C1 or 5.

not to jump off the story but the whole reason I got a turbo mirage was to not be like a civic plus civics are not good turbo cars the block just cant handle it for long the thing about mirages is the fact that not to many people have them, the 4g63t motor is great plus cheap to build, and cops love to give tickets to riced out cars that everbody has, to sum it up I drive a mirage turbo for pure enjoyment of a driving experence if you want to save gas go drive a fruit and banana honda thanks turboshawn :twisted:
