Does anyone know how to remover the air silencer in the intake. I heard this will gain me some horse power but I don't want to mess anything up, if anyone has done this and knows what I'm talking about please help. Thanks

first, take out your MAF like you would to change your air filter.
if you look in the end that the air hose connects to, you will see a white star-shaped thingy...that is the silencer
just simply unscrew every thing that you need to to get the maf out of the way and the star slips right out...very simple
hope this helps...i did it to mine, not much of a performance gain but it does sound a little better in my opinion and it wont hurt the car at all

All you have to do is remove the intake tube with the air flow sensor. Its screwed to part of the air can. It has a square plug. The silencer is that filter looking piece where the tube connects. Remove all those phillips screws and carefully take the air flow sensor out of the air can. The silencer should pop right out. Put everything back together and should sound better and flow slightly better.

Has anyone some figures at hand in how far this mod changes the car's power output?
In my oppinion, this mod's effect will be negligible. The silencer is just too small. :(
But I *think* the sound has changed a bit, though. 8)

Hey, thanks for the info, I did remove the silencer and I have gained a more powerful sound but I'm hoping this will help out the performance, I heard that it will if I do some more small things to the motor like a new K&N filter and cutting the plastic cover to show the filter and allow a better air flow. Anywho, thanks again.
