I'm looking to find out what exactly turbo this is, what it fits on, how much they go for, etc, etc

It's a straight Garrett .50 trim unit.......dunno if it's a T3 ot T4

ahhh - I thought that - but then was thinking if you release the flow from only one runner - the exhaust flow would become turbulent...

Is this the usual spot to set up an external wastegate?

how would you mount an external wastegate on say a 1g exhaust mani?
i assume you would have to take it to a machine shop.

they would have weld a cast iron flange to the manifold i would guess, or nothing at all. haha. just get a different manifold.

If you use a custom O2 housing you can just have the internal WG flapper removed and connect the external WG to the original outlet that is integral to the turbine housing. You can always port the WG hole out if there isn't enough flow.
