I have only had my car for a few days and I just realized something... my car doesn't have an independent rear suspension like most early 90's hatchbacks, it has some sort of bar thing.

To do the rear disc conversions everybody talks about do I need to swap out to an updated suspension of some sort??

Thanks!! :D

They didn't have IRS, they had trailing arms and the connecting beam.

Yeah..... I noticed...

Did the Colt GT have the same setup?? I am wanting to do the rear disc conversion, so I am wondering if I need to change to an IRS setup.

Also... I want a car that handles and brakes somewhat decent.

Can anybody with knowledge on the rears of these cars tell me some more??

there is no IRS.
look a GT with 4 disc and look on your ride. Its the same bar, just with brakes on the end instead of crappy drums.
If you do the 4disc. Its easy to unbolt the panhard rod and replace yours with it.

If you want something that stops and corners well then
1) go to performance improvements or something and buy some cross drilled and vented rotors for the front and buy some new rotors for the rear. Get some kevlar pads.

2) for handling get Some koni yellows (struts) and maybe intrax, dropzone, B&G or eibach sportlines (springs).

you'll be set
