So on my Colt I've been noticing when cornering or accelerating up hill I get massive fuel cut/stutter/hesitation when the tank gets to around 1/4 sometimes even more like almost half tank full it will still do it. I know DSMs do this when the tank gets pretty low that's usually at fuel light ON territory though. Time to drop the tank? Or would you say this is normal given the fuel tank/factory pump design?

No issue full tank?
The surge/reservoir portion works the same for all tanks in these cars, so unless you have a strainer issue (which you would suspect would give issue more or less all the time) or a frequency issue that just happens to be coming up during cornering and or hill climbs, I have yet to encounter issues with my factory style fuel sysem (walbro 255hp, rewire kit installed, bolt to rail SX/Buschur AFPR, all lines OEM in engine bay). I do have a new strainer however, and a confirmed clean tank. Pics of the tank insides for your reference are in my build thread. Got a palm logger kicking around?

Thanks for the info. I have link V3 but haven't done a log in a while. Will have to see if I can catch it in action but that will just more or less confirm that its actually running out of fuel?

Wish I could tell you if there was a set of "data points" to look for as it leans out (assuming the case), but a wideband would confirm AFR, and Link will tell you if Knock retard is kicking in. Might only be a load related issue? Knock sensor new and not dripping goo? I'm throwing rocks in the pond until we know more.

Normal operation. Same crappy design as the other early mitsu's suffer from. Keep the tank full, no more issues

Was hoping this was normal operation lol, especially on a car with suspension and performance tires.

Given the design of the tank, it shouldnt matter how much fuel is in the tank nlss you are running on the last gallon.
The "reserve" part of the tank is on the rear section, so uphill and under harder accelleration you would definetely have fuel run into the reserve.
What fuel pump are you running? How is the fuel filter? Have you checked fuel pressure?

Since you have v3. Hit that first.

Consider a surge tank, inline. The other other reserve, of already pressurized fuel.
