Post subject:  Signal Flasher Relay?

Where and what does the Flasher relay on our cars look like? I'm converting all the bulbs on my C62A over to LED's for the increased brightness and quicker response time, but I'd need to change the Flasher relay to slow down the flashing..

I can't get to the Lancer right now at the shop so I'm hoping one of you guys has an idea and/or photo on the relay.

I think most people just wire in a resister to the signal bulb wire however they do make an adjustable flash relay that may or may not work for this application.

That's what I've heard too but Resitors produce heat and I don't want to tape resistors to the body to act as a heatsink.

I need a photo of the flasher relay itself so I can find a compatible LED Specific relay.

I doubt any noteworthy heat will be produced, that procedure is pretty standard. LED bulbs sometimes come as a package deal, bulb plus resisters.

Still don't want to drill holes.. IIRC The resistors get as hot as the bulbs themselves.

I know it's under the dash, but I can't get to it right now.

Paint shop has the body.

It's gray in color, plugged in to the fuse panel.

Finally! Thanks!

I'm going to check it out sometime this week and hopefully find a compatible LED Flasher Relay. I just want LED Bulbs for the increased brightness and instant on and off without fading.

I didn't know they made LED specific flasher relays, really cool to know, keep us posted on how it works out for you. Sure beats splicing in resisters.

Does anyone know of where to get a stock replacement? My blinkers work but my hazards don't so I wanted to try switching that out to see if that'd fix it. I already tried the hazard switch and autozone said they don't have anything in their system.

Rockauto carries TRIDON/NOVITA EP34 for under $10 US. Says in the details it works with incandescent bulbs, LED's or any combination of the two. I think that almost any square-base B/L/E flasher will work okay if the prongs are aligned the same, but you may have to pop off the cube part of the flasher housing, then reinsulate it with electrical tape. On my S2000, I did that with a flasher from superbrightleds, who appear to have an adjustable flasher available as well nowadays.
