I have an 89 colt with the 1.5L that has a no start issue. It's been running great until the other day when it would just crank and not start. It has spark to all cylinders, but it's not getting fuel. I'm getting a check engine light with a dead ecu code. I have a spare ecu that I tried and got the exact same problem and code. The fuel pump runs when power is put directly to it. I have checked the fuel pump/ecu relay, and it's good (so are all of the other relays and fuses for that matter). So, what are the odds that both my ecus are bad in the exact same way, and is there anything else that could be causing the issue/giving me a dead ecu code? Thanks. :D

where are you putting power to the fuel pump?? at the pump itself? if so it could be the relay..

I was using the fuel pump check terminal under the hood, but even with the fuel pump jumped directly to the battery, it's still not getting fuel. I did notice the contacts in fuel pump/ecu relay look a little burnt, like points that are worn out. I'm going to replace it and see. Thanks

when u jumped it did the pump turn on?

also when u turn the key on and try to start the car.. when u turn the key off listen for a click about 5 sec after key is off.. if so then the relay is good and its probably the pump went bad.

I'd try another ecu, it's possible you have two bad ones.

Update, I acquired another ecu and it's running now, so I did just have two bad ecus. That's the good news, however the new ecu is giving me a check engine light and an injector code. It runs great, and the injectors seem fine. The resistance checks fine on all of them, and they sound fine. I did try replacing the O2 sensor on a friends recommendation but to no change. Like I said it runs great, but it seems to think something is wrong with the injectors. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Further update, it seems to run well, but ever once in a while, when idling, it will surge. It doesn't do it very often. Also, another question, when I check the code from the ecu, it starts as a short followed by 4 longs. Then it repeats. According to the book, all the codes start with longs then shorts. Does it always put out that short first? Is that an injector code I'm getting (four longs and a short)? Thanks
