There is absolutely no point in doing this when you can swap in a 4G63T. 4G92 will cost you more, makes less power, won't directly bolt in, and there are no parts available for it in the US, and it's more difficult to turbocharge when you get sick of the 172hp not being powerful enough.

Different, gas efficient and bad ass. 172 hp stock is better than a 4g63 n/a. It would be cool to do a 4g94 with a 4g92 mivec head.

Nope nope nope nope, and nope.

A properly set up 4G63T swap will get 30+ mpg, easily. Mine got 33mpg, and that was on a basic tune using an S'AFC. There are people on here who have gotten 40mpg. Also, this engine is mounted completely opposite of the one in your car...the transmission is on the driver's side, and timing belt is on the passenger side. No one has ever successfully completed a swap like that. The amount of time, effort, and money would completely negate any fuel savings and cool factor you might get from the 4G92. Not trying to be a dick here, just telling it like it is.

Opinions we all have them.. with the sarcastic nope nope nope it seems kinda dick ish but maybe im sensitive.. im not sure if the4g92/3/4 mount all the same but google images the head is turned around on some pictues not sure why. And yes a 4g63 n/a has 150hp max. Im not sure what swap I will do if any but it doesnt cost anymore to dream big than it does to dream small.

thats more of a motor for over on mirage performance site that you are also on... thats for the 97+ mirages.. (5g's and up mainly)

it would fit into a geo tho since the 4g63 wont lol..

I've just seen a lot of people come through here and talk about their big dreams, when most people struggle to just finish a straight-forward 4G63 swap, let alone an AWD conversion, or something like that. You seriously need a lot of fabrication skills and technical ability to do it right, and it seems like you're a relative newbie when it comes to modifying cars. I don't want to squash any dreams, I'm just being realistic. The 4G92 does not mount the same. It mounts like a EVO 4-9 engine, with the transmission on the opposite side. You would need to build all of your own custom mounts, you'd need custom axles, a custom exhaust setup, and you'd be on your own as far as wiring is concerned...it's totally uncharted territory. Yes, anything is possible with money and time and skills...but for an engine that makes 172hp, and is impossible get parts for here in the US, it doesn't make any sense. If you're going through the trouble to do a 4G63 swap, leaving it N/A is a major disappointment, because that engine was meant to be turbo from the get-go, and it's a lot happier with boost.

Your reasoning is sound and I understand you are more experienced. This is about a 4g92 maybe its posted in the wrong place.

Everytime another motor possibility or modding stock engine is asked its always swap to a 4y63t. I can admit my experiance in tuning is limited but I enjoy n/a because its simple, I WILL get another dsm/csm and swap IT with a 4g63t but until I get another im leaving my summit engine stock forever. Small displacement is fine, I wish it was DOHC for better efficiency but it is a GOOD motor. Aswell as the 4g63 which has much after market suport, mainly I like the Idea of 7 bolt rods in a 6 bolt motor and better main bearings and kiggly main girdle and 7 bolt. I will find thetime and money for another project but as I always say I want to keep my car SIMPLE. I just posted this because it caught my eye..

If you really want to be different, and want a more peppy N/A car, then do a 4G64 bottom end, and either keep it SOHC, or swap a DOHC head on there. If you use the N/A bottom-end with a DOHC head, you'll get really high compression, which would be good for N/A, and the longer stroke will make things a lot more torquey, but it will run out of steam in higher RPM's. I see no benefit to 7-bolt connecting rods over 6-bolt, other than they may be a little bit lighter, but you'd never notice that difference in the seat of your pants.

If you want a N/A with some power a 4g64 DOHC will give you 168hp

Are you saying get a 4g64 8v sohc 6 bolt and get a 4g63 dohc head for it or a 4g64/g4cs dohc head?

The 2.4L G4CS is a lot more common. You can bolt a 4G63 DOHC head onto it, but you will have very high compression (~11:1) if you don't replace the pistons.

That's because it's the easiest/cheapest motor swap for our cars. There's not much else that swaps in without a lot of time/money/effort/patience. Nobody is bashing your ideas, it's just sad every time we see a guy come here with high hopes to some crazy new swap who tears his car apart, spends a ton of cash and then the end result is always a partout thread and another CSM bites the dust. If you really want to tackle it, I'd suggest getting at least 8-10k together first, then starting.
