I have been doing some searching and had a question:

I am getting ready to swap in a 4g63t into my 91 Colt. Do I have to remove the dash to remove the blower assembly? The Colt was originally an AC car (would be happy to yank that part from the assembly, but it is keeping me from removing the 4g15 harness (I will be reusing the harness)

You could possibly get it out without removing the dash, but i envision a lot of plastic ducting and such getting broken. IMO, it will be much easier with the dash removed. Just my two cents, but removing the dash pad on a CSM is a lot easier than on an 04' neon. Lol.

I have actually changed a heater without completely removing the dash but it was a pita! You still have disassemble the center console and remove the bracing for the center of the dash, after that its pretty much only a handful more of bolts at the tops of the dash to remove and a couple connectors. Just save the headache and pul it all the way out.

no pics but it will get you in the right direction http://www.4g61t.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5823

If you are trying to just get some room to get the harness out you can unbolt the blower box and pull it out about two inches to get the room you need. You will have to take the glove box out to acces the top bolts to the box.

Thanks. Yea, just want to remove the harness. I got the ac part out. Just trying to get the harness from behindthe heater core now. I will eliminate the ac so I can move the dsm harness to that opening.

I always found it easier to just remove the entire dash. If you know where all of the bolts are it can be done in 30 minutes or so. If not shoot me a pm, I wrote up something a long time ago for another member and I'll see if I can find it.

The blower is easy to take out, just take off the glovebox door and the glovebox itself, the entire blower assembly is right there. Being an AC car, there's going to be an large gray plastic box that contains the AC bits, you can pop it open, gut it, and put it back together.
