So i'm looking to purchase some drag wheels and slicks relatively soon because i want to hit the track pretty hard this season. I'm looking for some opinions from people with experience on wheel size and tire type for a 4 lug summit with captive rotors and extended wheel studs.
First, what is the biggest offset we can get away with on a wheel, without damage to the hub and bearing? I obviously want to run the widest tire possible and would still like to be able to turn.
Second, should i run a smaller wheel with wrinkle wall slicks, or a larger wheel with drag radials?
Keep in mind i have a Quaife LSD FWD and am lowered about 1.5".

There are so many threads dealing with this subject, it's not even funny.

15" diameter is best. 6-7" wide wheel, +40mm offset. 22-24" tall and 7-8" wide is where you're gonna want to be.

Go with a full slick, drag radials would have a higher risk of breaking something.

I run a 22x7 slick on a 15" wheel. Ran a 1.80 60ft. my first time out on an open dif. I'm expecting 1.7s this season with more seat time, probably will have 1.6s with an LSD. In other words you don't need a massive slick unless you're making massive power. You don't want to run the widest tire possible, that will just make you slower.

Thanks guys for your responses. I was more or less looking for information from people with same setup as mine. My reasoning for trying to run the widest tire possible was a bigger contact patch. I'm not making "massive power" but, on a 20g at 28 psi, my street tires (225/45/16 falken) do nothing from a dig. I just don't wanna purchase slicks without making a truly informed decision.

Nocturnal- What kind of power are you making?

393whp on a 20g. probably more like 425-450 as it sits on VP110. No street tire will do anything even in 3rd gear on the highway. A slick is a whole new world, I dead hook through second although my track is generally very well prepped and as I stated my slicks are on the smaller side, I run them at 11psi depending on conditions.

Wider isn't necessarily better with slicks, you really want to go as tall as possible with out killing mph. Tonus hit the nail on the head with what size you need, it will dead hook once you figure out what tire pressure you need.

Do you know the offset of those 240sx wheels? And what year are they?

Any stock wheels from an S13 should work. They were all 4 lug, and should all have the correct offset.
