Have you actually driven the car like that? I have a feeling it would rub. I had rubbing issues with 225/50's on a +40 offset that was 7" wide, but my car was also lowered a bit

I've rallyd the car around pretty good like that with no issues. By looking at it it seems like it would rub in the front, the rears clear by a nut hair so no issues there. I think the car has a bit of natural camber in the front when braking or cornering hard so it tends to clear, I've been expecting it to rub and if it does I'll roll the fenders a little bit. It has Mirage KYB struts and I'm not 100% sure on the springs. I'm also not sure how much the floating rotor conversion changes the foot print, that might have something to do with it. +34 would be the absolute lowest offset to go on 225s that's for sure. Also 225 can be different widths depending on brand and style of tire.

I've had tire rubbing on the inner frame rail areas under near lock steering.
Tires were 205/50-15 on a +42 offset rim. You don't want any rub on fenders or frame.

So +38 seems like it could be the happy spot for 225s.

+40 offset is the perfect offset for these cars, all around.

would this mean that the 195/50/15 w/ 6.5" width and +40 offset would be the best choice. how about having different tire size in front 15's and 16's at the back any negative feedback on this. I see evo's on this kind of setup

Biggest rear axle/tire to fender clearance issue, is the lowering of the rear end via springs. This leaves the panhard rod shunting the axle over ever so slightly closer to one fender more than the other due to its arc of travel. You need an adjustable panhard rod. Heck, I need one and completely forgot about it!

You wouldn't want to run different diameter rims like that. The car would understeer badly with 15's up front and 16's in the rear. It's popular in FWD cars to do smaller wheels in the rear, because this can promote oversteer. I don't know how EVO guys are doing this. Usually different rolling diameters on a AWD car will break drivetrain parts.

back to my question. would the 195/50 15 be the best option for stock suspension? what about for those w/ lowering springs what tire size would be the best for 15's

You can do 205/50's without any problems.

I have 2 sets of wheels. Both 17×7. One has 225/45/17 other is 235/40/17. Only had a tiny bit of rub full lock on frame.But after knknocking off the undercoat doesn't anymore.

has anyone had any good/bad experiences with FALKEN FK-452 tires? they seem to have a good semi soft rating im looking for.. and I found a set for a very good price.. 68 bucks each... but need input if there good tires or not.

Honestly, I think they suck. I've driven cars with them before. You're going to have a pretty powerful vehicle when it's all done, you're going to need something more sticky, like at least under 300 treadwear. Tires aren't something worth cheaping out on, in my opinion. You don't have to spend a fortune, but I'd look for something a little bit nicer.
