Since I have a freinds ls1 camaro in my garage, my 89 mirage has been outside. We have had bad weather the last couple days. Opened the door and noticed a musty smell, felt the driverside floor and it was wet. Any known area to check for a possible leak?

My 89 Summit sedan has done the same thing twice now. Except its on the passengers side. Unless its getting in the door moldings I'm not sure. Been meaning to check mine out but problems like that are hard to locate.

Only if you keep getting wet floors or live in the north... even then maybe. Here is a solution... get the LS1 Camaro out of your garage and put a car worthy of garage space in there... your 89 Mirage. lol j/k

I have a soggy passenger floor also. I thought it was from the heater core leaking and dripping down, but that's not the case.

yes.. it leaks in around the windshield an trickles its way back under the carpet in the little gullies.. usually rolls in by the ecu area. if you ever have your dash out take a look in that area.

That is really wierd because my Civic does that shit too. I can't figure it out for the life of me. Both rear carpets in mine.

I've got that problem now too but I think it's because I hooked the heater core back up and the guy that took it out mangled the inlet/outlet holes.

I was just about to post about SD's issues and the others who are overseas and have older models of the same chassis. Windshield seals are starting to rust or leak when they get really drenched.

Also, heres something you may or may not want to read, from Pat on the 61NZ forums..

well.... pulled out the mat/carpet that lines the inside of the firewall today and blow me dead a horrific bit of car cancer the size of my hand :( soft enough to push a tooth pick through... its directly under the brake master that used to leak so the brake fluid would of stripped the paint and then water over time i guess...
His carpet gets wet in the same spot as mine, so i'm guessing i have the same problem...

It is actually a VERY simple fix... I used to have this problem in my AWD colt, and the GF's White trash. The Cowl draig tubes get plugged/blocked over the years. and the water has nowhere to go.There is a sealer of somesort that holds two panels together. and it manages to make its way through that sealer after a while. I located the spot after a few min of searching for it.. I took the stock ECU out. the brackets that hold the ecu in the stock location. The passenger side speaker thats in the lower dash. if you loook straight back to the right, Its under the matting. I cut that stuff out. Cleaned the mossy look green stuff off the two pieces with alky. Then took some black RTV and went over the two panels a few times. maybe 3-4 and applied it kinda thick. Let it set up, and re-install the things you removed.. No more leaky, and no more wet floor. I fixxed mine over a year ago and it sits out side 99% of the time. If you guys want pictures. Give me a week. and it'll be in my garage by then. and i can do a step by step how to.
