just got home from the track, i just got the shitbox screaming last night with the new tune on 110 racegas. So me and the old hag load up all the crap and head out, i strap the slicks on and head to the line, i go to do my burnout and as soon as i let out the clutch i hear a loud thunk and it revs to redline. i try to pull it out of gear and put it back in, let out the clutch to try and drive and its like im in neutral with a faint grinding sound like the trans isnt all the way in gear. I pop it in reverse and it moves and i back out of the burnout box. I slowly drive to the pits and check things out, nothing is obviously broken like shift cables or axles but it only moves under its own power occasionally depending on if i roll it back and forth.

i jacked it up and spun the wheels, i could feel resistance as i spun the wheel and the other spun the opposite way then after a few turns the resistance of the trans goes away and it spins freely and the other wheel stops turning. sound like the diff?

on the bright side i've been kinda waiting for something big to break so i can tear it down to the shell and start from scratch and add the AWD subframe thats been sitting patiently in the garage

what does this sound like i broke?

im cursed at the dragstrip...

edit: because i learned to spell in utah

Sounds like a broken diff, or maybe as simple as you passenger axle popped out.

if luid isn't leaking badly, then its probably just an axle.

i just my front diff poke a thumb sized hole through my bellhousing in the clutch side.

Sounds to me like you might have sheared some teeth off of your diff. I did that in my Integra and shot the diff to hell.

Geeezz....eventually, I want to run slicks on a fast car. But where is the middle ground between no traction and too much traction? AFAIK, slicks can give the car a good launch, but they will show weaknesses of the drivetrain.
