the 1993 factory cams are the most agressive cams that came in a dsm. It is very likely that some of the evo cams (the evo III perhaps) came with more agressive cams, although at that point you might as well go buy some aftermarket cams, as the evo III cams won't be readily available and cheap like the oem dsm cams are. Also, buying the cams from a dealer would be pretty pointless in much more than one way. The cost will be insanely high, and unless the cams actually have different part numbers per year (which i personally would assume they don't) you have no idea what your getting until you take calipers to them and measure the lift and timing...

Has anyone simulated the head flow and worked out a good N/A cam? I'm going to be working on a 2.1L non-turbo engine next for a RWD swap and wanted to know if I have to reinvent the wheel. Heck, even good data on N/A lobes is hard to find. Maybe you guys have found some out there?

I've used www.coltcams.com (Jeff) in Canada with good results on my older Honda engines.
THey have a design that promotes better swirl in the dohc by advancing the intake valve on one lobe more than the other.

And by advancing the intake 2-4deg. and retarding the exhaust 2-4 actually lets the cylinder build a little more pressure before the exhust lets out.

I noticed a big increase in my 89 prelude by just putting the cam pulleys on and adjusting like above. Never had the money to 'test' or 'dyno' it but can feel it when I don't have to downshift from 5th when passing on the highway and can spin the tires in first without to much rpms.

just my 2cents

I have done the turbo cam in a couple of 4g63 n/a motors . You only need the intake cam , you wont really notice any power till you put a header on it,intake pipe and k&n , open the exhaust up and set the timing at about 15'btdc .Always run 93 . Still They are mostly turds... Might see 170hp.... maybe

What cars/motors had these cams stock???? A little exhaust cam time tweeking and these cams would do VERY well in a 2.0L with a 16g turbo! Are those evo 4+ cams?

The cams K(intake) and H(exhaust) are found in the 94 Galant GS.
The exhaust cam 'H' can be also found in the 94-97 RVR/SpaceRunner.
The cams G/G can be in the Euro market(1G Eclipse/Galant, 2G Eclipse, 89-91 Colt GTi 1800) and very few DSM. Consider yourself lucky if you find them in a DSM. These cams were also find in a 94 Galant GS.

As Tonus said and from what I can attest to as well, the 4g61t really woke up when the 4g63t stock cams were installed. I had converted most of the 4g61t setup back to stock during my emissions testing process when I first received the car, and it was night and day to piece by piece see what effect the tiny 4g61t pieces had as they were installed back onto the car from the state of tune the 4g61t was in with the 4g63t parts. I speak of my experience having also already installed the 14b and related exhaust bits, intake was mostly stock at the time, and had a Galant VR4 long route intercooler system installed.

Post subject:  Re: Turbo cams in NA for more power

I'm asking this for the hell of it. I have an 89 Summit 4G61 N/A. From what I see it's rated at 125 HP. I plan on installing a G4CN head, intake manifold, as well as a new head gasket when I change the timing belt (because it's kind of loose and doesn't look too healthy). With a 4G61 N/A that has a 4G67 head what cams would you recommend for low end torque and what cams would you guys recommend for high end torque. Obviously this car has a problem getting out of it's own way...
