I got the head of a 92 elantra 1.6L DOHC

The head is stamped 1.6L on the side of it, but it definalty has the big ports, same size valves adn the 2.0L head. Just a smaller combustion chamber.

Ill take pics of it today for you guys.

I know I posted this in my other post, but I figured as its appicable to this post as well

Here are the pics I promised.

Heres a shot of both heads from the top valve cover view

Heres the "1.6L" stamp on the side of the elantra head.

The 1.6L intake ports and then the 2.0L intake ports. Notice how they are identical.

Another closer pic of 1.6L ports

A pic of both next to each other.

Heres the exhuast ports on both. The same size as well.

Heres a look at both cumbustion chambers. Here you can see how the 1.6L chambers are a bit smaller.

2.0L

you can notice the extra material between the cylinders on the 1.6L Other then that the valves are the same size!

Heres a pic from farther away of the 1.6L cumbustion chambers.

Here is a pic of both combustion chambers together to compare. the turbo 4g63 head is on the left.

On the Hyundai head, is the oil supply port plugged with a removable hex head insert? Just want to make sure people don't have to port anything.
Maybe another pic? 8)

Great job on this one, cause this post will head to the archives.
If you could toss these pics on in the gallery, they'd hang around forever, if you know what I mean, or I could copy them to the archives to keep them around too. Your choice.

The oil supply hole just has a bolt in it to seal it off. Take the bolt out and put the banjo bolt in and its good to go.

Yeah sure, you have all the URL's in this post for the images so feel free to upload them to wherever you need to in order to make this a perment sticky. I will be making one more post today once I get the head back on.

Awsome find! All the older 1.6 heads had obviously smaller ports. Nice to know they can have larger ports on later NA models.

Okay well this is the end of the thread i guess. I put the head on today and it ran awesome! FINALLY after all my troubles! I didn't notice any difference in anything besides the smaller cumbustion chamber. Everything bolted up perfectly and worked awesome!!

+1 for 4g67 heads on 4g63

This thread will be moved to the Engine section archive momentarily. I am in the process of the naming the pictures in sequence so as to make reinventing the pictures and links that much easier. Great work on this one!
