I installed my Turbo Timer from my Talon into my Mirage tonight..and ran into a few snags during the install but got them all figured out. I don't know if this has already been covered before or is general knowledge..but hey it'll be good for archival purposes. First off, you can use the 1st Gen DSM Greddy TT, but it's not a plug and play proposition. When I plugged everything in..the little "Greddy" light was lit up, but the unit wouldn't power up. I took a closer look at the harness, got the multimeter out, and paid a visit to greddy's website. On the website I found a page that offered tips on TT installs. this was pretty good since I had lost the wiring instructions a long time ago. Basically it stated: Red-12V Constant Green-Ignition Blue-12V Accessory (Simple huh?) And this little blurb concerning cars with 2 ignition/switched hot leads: Connect the green wire to the switched 12V wire that does NOT drop voltage during engine start, and the blue wire to the other. Working from the white female 3 element plug from the TT wiring harness I found: Blue-Switched Hot, drops Voltage during engine start. Green-Constant 12V Red-Switched Hot 12V (Well at least this explained why the Greddy logo was lit on the TT) All you need to do is switch two wires on going from the TT Harness to the TT. You can use a small Jewelers Screwdriver to pop the female terminals out of the white 3 element plug coming off of the TT Harness, and swap the RED and GREEN terminals, or just cut them and splice them. Plugged everything back in, checked it once with the meter. Good to go, and the TT works fine. Rememebr this is with a harness for a 1st Gen DSM, I looked at my roomates 2nd gen harness and it takes power from totally diffrent locations. I didn't mean to write a book, but I hope this'll help someone out. |
