Not many companies make a upgrade for the 4G61T, but there is still hope for those who need a stronger clutch.

Get a hold of a 6 bolt flywheel from a '90-'91 FWD Turbo Eclipse or Talon, then you can you use any of the Pressure Plates that are made for the DSM's.

A common upgrade is to use the '95+ Pressure Plate and disc. This combo should be able to withstand the torque that the 1.6L is capable of making.

Also replace the throw-out (release) bearing with a new factory Mitsubishi bearing. It is the same part number for the DSM's and Mirages.

MD749998 (all)

These are the numbers I found in an older version of CAPS, no telling how many of them have been superceded/combined by now.

My understanding is the 3KGT SL clutch disk is the one to use. Apparently the latest 95+ clutch disk you can buy from the dealer is a real POS. I have tested the stock AWD PP to be ~1750-1800 lbs, I would guess the 3KGT plate to be about the same (need to get one to test). The service manual gives a lower pressure for the FWD plate so avoid those.
