hey,

I don't own an SCCA rule book (yet) I'm planning for my 2 "official" schools to obtain a regional competition licscense to go club racing. I have a few events under my belt, but I'm not going to bother trying to get credit for them. Anyways, I'm curious if my MT would be allowed in any category? I was looking into IT (even if it's only regional). I'm on summer vacation right now. I just graduated high school, I'm going off to Virginia Tech next year for mechanical engineering. So, I have a couple months here to build the car, if thats what I'm going to do with it, but I need to know what else the car needs, I was thinking just a fresh motor, brakes, suspension, roll cage, updated belts....I'm not going to start if the 4G63 in the mirage won't be allowed anyways.

If not, I would build the conquest (starion) I just got, and go with a blueprinted stock, no interior, cage, suspension, brakes. Then, I would get the added bonus of having RWD experience.

Anyways, I'm hoping everything will become clear when I get my rulebook, but until then I'm lost :-? .

If MT you actually meant to say NT as in non-turbo, it won't matter much.
In IT engine swaps aren't allowed and SCCA in general, turbo's are banned in Club Racing. You can probably run the "fun classes" made up by local regions like ITSS which is basically a venue for "anything goes" stock bodied cars generally not allowed by the rules.

I'm fairly sure that the 4g63 in the mirage is not going to be allowed. You may also want to check the NASA rules to see if there is a series you can race in. Also check the rules on local hill climbs. That would be a blast and our turbo cars are well suited for them.

I'm interested in doing this as well. If you find a class you can go to, let me know.

What tracks have you been on?

OH yeah, just a thought, contact the honda challenge guys. It would be REALLY interesting to get a honda vs mitsu series going with them. I know the guy that organized that series and my have a chat with him at the next club meeting, but I really need to know that there will be people to show up before presenting it.

yeah, scratch the 4G63 mirage in pretty much anything SCCA. It looks like it's 4G61t or nothing. I was just looking at some online archives, and the conquest would be a better choice, also because it is bone stock right now...although I highly doubdt it would be all that competitive....

But I would like to do some things with the mirage, I would definately be on for the honda challenge, I saw clips of the nissan one someplace on TV, looks like a blast and something that we would be real competitive in.....although I dunno what they would have to say about our turbocharged advantage.

Most Regions will. I know that RRE runs a highly modified '92 GSX in the CSCC Regions Improved Touring SS class. It's for alot of the NASA Unlimited cars and such. That car stomps on turbo Porsche's and such.

Oh come on, go to RIT so we can hang out :)

FYI: all the engineering web pages are going to change VERY soon so don't pay attention to the fact that they suck now.
