OK guys, I figure this would be the place to ask this... I have a CSM that I have converted to AWD and have a non-turbo 4g63 in it now the question becomes .. Could I get some suggestions on non-t builds and what numbers are possible? I would like to stay on pump gas but understand that at some point may have to at lest mix fuels. Is E85 an option in non-t or does the big benifts just come in to play with a turbo? I have some old school understanding of V-8 stuff but there is so much more options out there that I'm only sort of aware of... Thanks!! |

E85 is verrry resistant to knock, so you can get away with much higher compression and more agressive timming, some say as high as 14:1 but thats just "internet knowledge". If going N/A (I have considered it for a off-road truck motor because the 22R is way too common) I would DOHC-swap a 2.4 block, which might not be as rev-happy as a rally car would need but it would have the torque to drag around two extra wheels. ~ |

That is along the line I was thinking of doing... So does anyone know if the 1.6 motors out of the Hyundi's are the 1.6 4g61 heads or are they the 2.0 heads on a 1.6 block. I ask becuse I would want the small runners and smaller chamber for higher velocity flow in the 1.6 4g61 head. Might as well get all the correct parts if I am going to put it together from pick n pull. |

It can be a crap shoot with heads. Best way to tell is to pull the intake manifold. There are threads on here that detail how to identify the 1.6 heads by the markings. |

Engine drivetrain archives is a post with Cylinder head info, cc sizings, markings,etc. |
