Our front / rear bias was 63/37 and it was way too lose all the way through the corner . Our car weighs 1840 lbs with fuel but without driver.

What % of front / rear weight bias are you road racers or auto crossers running ? What is the main handling characteristics of these cars when you get them too nose heavy ? |

Front end heavy equals understeer. Rear sway bar helps to induce oversteer, to snap the rear end around. Those are the basics for our hatches in a nutshell. Page 21-23 indicates the factory weights for an 89 Hatch/Sedan in the FSM. Click me for the Intro files to the FSM I'll let the autocrossers speak of their experiences. |

Thanks that is a far better spec sheet then i have been referencing . I am considering adding a bit more rake to the chassis and to counter the under steer putting in stiffer rear springs that i recently aquried . |

Put in a set of Stock AWD Talon springs that will give you good rake and better rear stuffness...

FWIW, when I had LILEVO1 corner weighted, AWD, it was 60/40 with the battery in front. |

Our car is working pretty well with our current set up stock 1g Talon shocks and springs on rear and 2 coils cut off stock 1g Talon springs on the front . This gives the car quite a bit of rake in the chassis , but the car does not push (under steer) in the corners any more . The one problem we do seem to have is the car gets loose under braking going into the corner but i am not sure if this is not because of too much brake bias on the rear of the car . I am going to have the car scaled this coming weekend to see if i can get a better handle on things . |

I've found there is quite a bit of rear brake in this car doyou have drums or discs?

We are using stock brakes with drums in rear right now but i will be upgrading the front discs at some time in the near future . |

Yeah just grab a set of front knuckles from an Elantra with a M/C booster that will give you much more front Bias and makes your pedal feel great... its a direct bolt on... and gets you vented rotors... |

While cleaning the garage I cam across a scrap of paper that I had written the corner weights of my rally car on. LF 660 RF 655 total front 1315 LR 376 RR 346 total rear 722 For those not so math savvy, that is a total weight of 2037. That is a fully caged, front strut to rear shock car with a NA 4G63. Bias was 65/35 which was nice for dirt. |

Pics are from aug this year we started last and won this race . The car worked best on hot nights when the track was sticky .
