Looking at some pics from the last TnT we had here in Vegas and I noticed this Mirage, has slicks on the BACK, and streets on the front. Any body know who this is and whats it got going on?

That aint no rear wheel drive look at the pan rod. I'm going to guess it was not "slick day" at the track and he was told to switck them. I've seen it happen at our local strip. He should of gotten a black marker and drew linrs on the slicks, I've seen that work also.

It was a TnT and slicks are allowed. I just talked with the guy who took the pics and he said it was FWD and was trapping 113-114. Must be one of those guys that is trying to prove a point by not running slicks.

Uh no. I dove all the way from Denver friday to find out my slicks were too tall. I did not bring the other street tires, so instead of wasting my time with back to back 12.2@104mph tire rubbing passes, I called my dad and we came up with just swapping the tires and having fun. If you look at the inside of each of the rear tires, you can see were they were rubbing.

Ended up running a few passes in the 14.0-15.0 @ 113-118mph range. I know it looked goofy, as I said though, I drove from denver for the test and tune to find all the work done to make the slicks fit was a waste.

Car looks better than I thought. Couldn't hook for shit with the street tires. Was spinning past the finish line in fourth gear. Car was sitting at 7300rpm all the way through fourth gear. The dsmlink log had the rpms flatlined for about five seconds in fourth gear.

Damn, I missed that TNT otherwise I could have loaned you a set that would have fit.

The battery cutoff switch took the place of the rear wiper on my Mirage, too.

Were the slicks still rubbing on the back or did they have enough clearance?

No they cleared fine. The perch for the front struts is much wider. They appeared to clear enough on the side of the tire. But they were just too tall. They are 24.5x8x15 mickey thompsons. That is ok. I need suspension work any way, so what better excuse than to buy the coilovers I need now.

Were you lining up outside the groove like that or where you just driving around the water box? If you were launching right there its no wonder you were slipping all the way down the track.

I tried to go in the groove a few times. It would hop really really bad. Even in third gear and fourth gear. So to save my axles and transmission, I just decided to go out of the groove. That track was super duper sticky.

Ease up on the fella will ya. He's out there having fun.
I'd say that 12.2 with a 2000lbs car is not to shabby.
So what if his tune is off...most likely for a 16g that's pretty darn good.

P.S. Davis your set-up is going to look real nice in my car sometime after May.
So please keep the boost down. You need to start thinking about paint, curtains
and towels that match the carpet.

Tune is not off. Not a 16g car either. I picked up as much as 18mph with the street tires. We have it on video smoking the tires past the 1000ft mark. After the second pass the tires had expanded so much they were touching the strut will just sitting still. Just imagine the tire growing another 1.5-2".

I would say the 12.2 tire rubbing pass had you beat. Or both of them. 118 was the best I could do on the street tires. It was a waste with them. I even waited one pass until the 1/8th and it still spun in fourth and fifth. On one pass I picked up 40mph on the back half of the track. That was with the street tires. I think I ran 14.3@116 that pass.
