I know the inserts are used in the stock struts but is there any chance that it will fit into KYB GR2 struts?

Peter I don't believe they do I've measureed before and there was one dimension that didn't work I think there was a lip that the knois wouldn't clear or something you can get a stock front set for super cheap the rear konis are full replacement struts.

Mikes auto wreckers on Mud St. In Hamilton probably $25 for the set if you pull the springs off they have a few colts and lots of elantras out there...

How do you know if they are the original struts. These cars are so old now that it would be likely replacement struts on them.

I am sure someone on the board would have some old stockers layin around if you can't find any at the yards.

Thanks guys, once the weather clears up a little I will head to the junk yard. Maybe I will get some Elantra control arms too while I am at it.

Yes, the Koni 8641-1172 sport will indeed fit into the KYB GR-2 strut body for the 1.6 Mirage Turbo.

Thanks for that info, now I no longer need to find original struts.

I ran out to the garage and checked to be sure. I only had to gently tap down
to get the insert close enough to grab it with the bolt, but I stopped until I have
time to grind down the flange by the piston rod to accept the coil-over sleeve.
