I've searched, but can't find anyone that has run 13" drag rims over turbo model brakes. In the archives it says, "Do not try to put 13" wheels on the car. At least 14" wheels are needed to clear the front brakes." I'm assuming that statement applies to stock backspacing. Has anyone successfully run 13" wheels over turbo brakes with a larger than stock backspace?

I have the stock turbo wheels on now, but for drag racing i would like to know if I could fit 13" wheels such as a pair of Welds with say a 5 inch backspacing. I'm trying to figure out at what point a 13 inch wheel's backspacing will clear a turbo model's front brakes, if it is even possible to fit a 13" wheel.

Ok, I did some calculations...

5.5 inches * 25.4 mm = 139.7 mm (stock turbo wheel width converted to mm)
139.7 mm / 2 = 69.85 mm (centerline of stock turbo wheel)
69.85 mm + 46 mm (stock offset) = 115.85 mm (stock turbo wheel backspacing)
115.85 mm / 25.4 mm ~ 4.56 inches (stock turbo wheel backspacing converted to inches)

So if 13 inch drag rims are able to fit then they would need to have a larger backspacing than 4.56 inches. I might contact Bogart or Weld and see what they have to say, as I'm assuming no one here has done this.

not neccessarily true, it's been done before. it was a factory 1.5 and it had 13x7 or 13x8 weld 8 lug universals on it. he said that the calipers needed grinded down a bit but that was it.
