At the drags Saturday the colt would not do better than 2.29 60', with most being 2.4. :( Major whl hop was the problem. This has just recently appeared as a problem on sticky pavement with approx. 4000 rpm launches. Are the control arm bushings too worn to control excess movement, and if so, can these be filled with window weld like I did with the motor mounts or must they be replaced?
I'm wondering if slicks would also help alleviate wheel hop?

glad you jumped on this coltnostra. as soon as i saw the title i thought to myself BUSHINGS! so yes, superpro bushings can be had through dsmracer who runs http://www.evol-art.com. i don't think those traction bars are gonna get made seeing as the conversation tapered off and wasn't posted in since february (until recently).

urethane front and rear motormounts solved 95% of our wheelhop issues.

the other 5% was solved by slicks,

going half throttle will also help. that's what I do, and my motor mounts are stock. I cut 2.0 60 foots all day long with only bfg 225 / 50/15's up front

Yeah, you can do the motor mounts yourself. Red93Mirage (91 here I think) did his own, and has a how to on his website.

I hang around a lot of people that drive quick maxima's and get on there forum all the time. I read a post on there that was talking about how they use really strong zipties, the ones that can hold like 100lbs each, to keep their front springs compressed so the front of the car doesn't lift any when they take off at the line.

isn't that the theory behind the traction bars? to keep the front of the car from lifting?

What he said. Get some prothanes, or windoweld your existing mounts. Back that up with some adjustable shocks [front and rear] with some meaty slicks and damn that wheel hop!

You still didn't replace those control arm bushings? I told you over a year ago they felt like they were shot...

Berserko; yeah, I know they're the likely culprit, but I never had wheel hop before, and I figure they're a b#$&*! to replace?

Let me put it this way it more of a bitch to pull the control arms than swap the bushings after you figure out how to swap the bushings its easy to do only really takes 10 minutes I suggest upgrading to J1 Elantra control arms at the same time so you get the nice bolt in ball joints...
