:) :-? :o Well, it's done. The bottom line is: Max POWER=288.4 @ 4.2K; Max TORQUE=306.5 @ 5.5K.
I do believe there is something wrong here.... with 306.5 ft-lbs at 5500 rpm then your HP should be 320.97HP.

HP = (Tq * RPM)/ 5252

Is there something I am missing?

well, if power kept building, the 320.97hp would be at 5500 rpm, right? but 288.4 at 4200 rpm.

i'm taking hp = (306.5 * 5500) /5252 and getting 320.97 hp

but doing it the other way, I get... tq = (hp * 5252) / rpm , tq = (288.4 * 5252) / 4200 and getting 360.62 ft/lbs.

I'm not sure how this is supposed to work.

yeah that car seems like it should be making way more top end

not peaking hp at 4200rpm or what not

it even has hks cams - i would think it should make some sweet numbers at say 6krpm at 20psi!!!

something is bottlenecking performance! what is it!

   Duh! I goofed again. I got the RPM's switched. The max TORQUE was 306.5 @4.2K; the max POWER was 288.4 @5.5K.
At 6K, the power was about the same, but the torque had dropped. I can't remember the figures, but I worked out the formula given and at 6K the numbers worked out mathmatically. Well, the fund grows, so we may hit it again at a higher boost. Till then, I'm looking for Mar. 5, for test &tune at the track. Bill
I put this edit on the earlier note. Just bringing it to attention.

Well, tomorrow I go to the dyno again. I have adjusted my AFR across the whole rpm range to give 1380 below 1K, 1400's 1K-3.5K, then richer up to 1250 @6.5, and 1230 0ver. I plan to keep boost at 20. So, can anyone suggest ignition timing trims over this range? Thanks for suggestions.

No way! I'm still around 290. We got 284, blew a tube, etc., etc. Seems to not hold boost. I may either drop boost to about 17, or change base timing about 2*. It was reported that I had "some" detonation. (Icouldn't tell.) I am happy with it whatever the numbers show. I start auto cross this weekend and drag next weekend. Hope to get to Nopi in MD. See youthere, maybe.

Just to butt in a little , thought this was relavent, dyno's #'s vary A LOT . We have a dynojet 224 , it is consistant , but I get cars in all the time that make way less power on our dyno that other dyno's, especially "dyno dynamics" , but even other dyno jet's .

:o "After further review...." I notice that my air/fuel ratio was set right at 12.00. (Very rich.) I had thought that it would have been worked to 12.8 or 13.0, which is rich but within a more desireable mix. I may bump it later, but I will not go for another dyno. to get it. I'll try data logging. Any views on what changes can be made with a .8-1.0 leanout?? Oh, I used 93 pump gas.
On pump, that is a tid lean on a turbo motor on pump gas, but since you are runnign such low boost, you shoudl be OK. We usually shoot for 11.5 to 1 on pump. Get the best reslutls and the least KNOCK. Were you logging to see what your knock counts were at?

^ what he said
now on my red car, my afr is 12.8:1 @ 29 psi and with the spray (120 shot) afr goes down to 10.9 :1 , I too THOUGHt that my afr was too lean, but I had no knock and everything seemed ok, but then again it was on 110 not pump :)

No, I do not yet have datalogging ability. We didn't hear anything. How should that show up? I do have a "knock sense" adjustment input. Perhaps when the knock got in, the system cut back? :o :-? Well, something to think about. We hope to get up to NOPI at Bud's Creek, MD. next weekend. Maybe I'll get a time. Did first autocross this weekend. Drove fine, lots of fun, but I should get a new name--"On-Star" because I got lost all four times through. We had a figure eight thrown in, and whenyou came out of a fast curve the whole "eight" was in front of you with gates every where. Still was a blast. :D Old On-Star Bill

Well, further review reveals that in my system the "knock sense" detects a knock and retards timing to compensate. So, that is probably what is happening. Anyway, fun is fun. Maybe I'll get it straight later.
After my first auto cross, they call me On Star. We had a figure eight diagonally across the middle. When you came out of a turn to go into it, you saw a bunch of pylons in every direction. No time to think--just gothroug something! Unfortunatel, I kept screwing up. BUT, it was a BALL. Well, drags are this weekend. Bill OH! Congratulations to Jason, Lil Evo on the magazine article. Well deserved.

:D I have been away for some time, but I haven't stopped playing. I have redesigned and redone my header and downpipe, added a Magnus sht. metal inake with a 70mm Edlebrock TB, and a Turbonetics T3/T4 turbo(.63A/R turbine and 50 trim compressor) and ext. wastegate. New charge pipes, and all was ceramic coated inside and out. I got more room all around; gained about 3" between header and radiator, so I added another fan. A great set-up. PULLED 420 WHP!
:( Downside: Blew out the catylitic converter and did some internal damage. I am SMOKING. So, we will pull it down to look for a bad valve guide/retainer and or oil ring. Another two weeks. But even this shall pass!
