Post subject: | Spec Miata Racing.....Do you know anything about it? |
Now that the rally car is crashed and I am all upset about that the thought of road racing has entered my mind. I know I will get really bored (as I did with kart racing) but that is no reason not to have fun for a little while. I am looking for inside information on hot setups, preferred years and why, wheels, tires, suspension, add ons, what to look for in a street, or already prepped Miata? Stuff like that. Thanks, Chris |

true dat on Mankiew! I went over to his house and he had like a half dozen Miatas in the driveway all in various states of AutoX upgrades. (among another couple mitsu project vehicles) Perfect candidate for your info though... |

rallyguy, One of my best friends and his dad both race spec miata. I pit for them once in a while. I can have him call you if you want. They are very competitive in the midwest and very into racing, both work at woodhouse car dealerships,(bob woodhouse has 2 speedvision cup vipers, the comp coupes full race no vin#) my friends dad sells all the vipers for woodhouse. ryan and bill pemberton. anyway let me know and I can hook you up with them. barnes |

Thanks to all, but I ended up buying a house last week. For those who dont know Bay Area (CA) house pricing, this means I wont be racing too much for a while. Chris |

No kidding. You're nutz. Spec Miata WOULD have been a great way to go racing. It's inexpensive and easy to stay competitive. If you want something cheap just to get seat time, you can usually buy a decent prepared Improved Touring car for anywhere from $2500-4000 with spares.

I'll be interested to see the difference now that 99+ models are allowed in. I'm sure they will try and equalize them but it will be hard to see what restrictor plates will do to the motors. Mike |

ive heard that people favour the earlier 1.6 over the later 1.8. this being becaus more modifications are allowed to the 1.6 the equal them out. |
