I saw the most humiliating thing on the 1/8 mille track today

A friend of mine with is integra(honduh guy) set him on the line for the first run of the day, when the light turns to green, he drops the clutch and Nothing.... he brokes a CV axle and his day was over, came home on a towing truck with 120$ less in his wallet.

Do someone saw something worst at the track...or expiremented something worst??? Tell us your story

A friend that I know that has a 1st gen talon let his dad do a run at the track. His dad busted his cv to, we figured that he revved it up to 6 and dumped the clutch. He probaly did not know better.

Sheesh, If I had a dollar for every Honduh that I've seen break an axle, I would have a fully build 63t w/ an FP3065. Another common one I've noticed are poorly set up nitrous systems on stock honda's that backfire and blow the intake off. :o

I've seen a Honder dump the clutch at 7K rpm, snap his axle and turn sidways because of the broken axle and run into the tree. Made a good size dent in the tree as well.

Got to watch a Evo3 on sunday blow out his sump bung, oil down the entire track, and for the most part completely destroy the engine and 25g turbo that was hanging off it from oil starvation.

The most embarrasing thing I've ever seen at the track happened at the local redneck 1/8 mi. track we have here in the Shenandoah Valley, VA.

To preface, the track is a SBRA (Southern Bracket Racing Association) track, so people get eliminated pretty quickly and usually just leave after they're done.

Well, some punk in an S10 pickup, presumably with a 350, gets eliminated early. Rather than exiting gracefully, this idiot drives back down the return lane like a jerk, spinning tires, revving, etc. Keep in mind the staging lanes and exit road wrap around the stands and track in a large "U."

This guy then proceeds to act like a total dumba$$ and roast the tires going out the exit lane, which is a narrow 2-lane strip of asphalt that leads out to the main gate and exit. Going around a slight right-hand turn the guy floors it, the a$$ end gets light and he loses it. The truck swings back around, leaves the road and slams broadside into a tree. All 500+ spectators were watching the whole thing unfold and everyone erupted into a roar of laughter.

The guy was so embarrased/pissed that he didn't even get out to survey the damage, he just tore off out of the track. I've never laughed so hard in my life -- it's guys like that who make driving a turbocharged Dodge Colt so much fun. :P

at the above 2004 dsm shoot out I saw that nitrous backfire I also broke my intermediate shaft at the line at the shoot out, tyring to qualify for the quick 16 , let me tell you it is pretty embarrasing when you have the whole dsm community watching you and you break at the line and watch your car go to the wall :(

Yea I was in the pits sanding down a crank from a spun rod bearing--don't ask, and heard that backfire having done it myself--knew right what it was. Like the sayng goes there are only 2 type of people who use nitrious-those that have blown motors and those who are yet to blow a motor.

More than likley he was using emory paper on the crank. I'd hate to see him underneath the car, oil dripping everywhere, and Corey under there
with 80 grit 8)

You were using emory cloth....... right ? :P

Yep Emory and a used bearing from a free motor we got the night before--hehe. Just sucks to qualify 8th in quick 16 not even running a great pass to go out so soon. It would have worked but since the head was the last spare for the seasson, decided against running the car again. Threw a new crank and bearings in it and what do you know it goes 9.7 must be doing something right--lol. But for those wondering it does work, infact buschar had the emory cloth we left ours at home--lol. Keep in mind this is a pro car, breacking things is what it does sometimes we limp it just to get threw another round or 2 to get some money. Which is why we where in paul effatis rig at maple grove eyeing that thing up the idea for next year is spare motor, spare head, spare tranny, and lots and lots of extra parts.
