How old is the fuel filter? If it's old replace it first. Try a can of injector cleaner. If it doesn't help... maybe it normal then. :-?
I know of some Toyotas, Mazdas and a few other CSMs that always make that sound. It seems to be normal and not a bad thing, as they all run pretty good.
Your mileage doesn't look that bad. Did you alread check the oxygen sensor?

Ditto that, I get about 30-32mpg city and ~40mpg highway plus I have a lead foot when driving the 4G15. However I made several changes that improved it 10-15% over when I first got it - ported(cleaned-up)/matched head, deburred and polished combustion chambers, CAI and Finer Filter, cleaned and balanced fuel injectors.

You sure it's the injectors that are making the noise and not the lifters or valves?
