Ive had some idle issues which ive tracked to two things. First was a bad O2 sensor connection. The second is that with the 4g37 injectors and MAF, the idle was way lean. It caused some surging and hesitation problems. Engine would stall when cold. Seems that the 4g15 ECU doesnt supply enough fuel for idle and part throttle with this setup. WOT is great. Since i dont have a SAFC to adjust fuel curves, i adjusted the amount of unmetered air by installing a plastic cap with a hole drilled into it into one of the bypass tubes. I had to try a few different size holes to find one that worked. Much better now! Seems the stock MAF would not supply enough unmetered air while the 4g37MAF supplys a little too much with the 4g15 ECU. I hope that 4g37 ECU will solve these probs. ( as soon as i get one )

I gotta remember that wine-cork-w/-a-smaller-hole trick. :D Thanks for the research!
However, I always thought a lean idle would help saving fuel. Too bad it makes the car stall.

It was waaay lean! Wouldnt even register on my A/F ratio guage! If i put my thumb over one of the holes it would shoot up. :D I have it set now so that it runs towards the lean side of stoich when at idle. Seems to run stoich when cruisin and rich when the pedal meets the carpet

Great, this is the way it has to be. Woah I can't await to get that stuff myself. I may have a shot at a wrecked 4G37.

Right on Berserko! My work doesnt have any at the moment. :( I have noticed that the car seems to pull harder when its loaded with people than it did before. Top end seems to improve slightly. Anyone got a cheap SAFC?

If you don't run the ECU tou'll be running stinkin rich on a 4g15 ECU as for the ECU there is a VERY small percentage which are Eprom if it is then you can modify your ECU code... if not your stuck... I could check my mitchells but I think it will work fine G4CS (4664 SOHC) and 4g37 are the same wiring I'm willing to bet that 4g63 SOHC is the same too... BUT I HAVE NOT VERIFIED MYSELF SO TAKE MY OPINION FOR WHAT ITS WORTH....

IMO it isn't worth to hack the 4G15 ECU, as EPROM versions of them are almost non-existant and the fuel maps are rather crude. While I haven't checked the 63 SOHC ECUs yet, I hope their fuel maps are somewhat moer sophisticated due to larger engine and injector size.

Drum Roll....

The results are in..

I swapped in my 210cc injectors tonite along with mt 4g37 ECU I've had a G4CS MAF in for months and a 4g37 TB second crank it started (first crank was rebuilding fuel pressure...) and it ran pretty well now I have been running the car lean for a few months it was even more gutless than your average 4g15 putting the injectors and ECU definetly brought in more bottom end but I think I lost a bit up top but I only ran the car for like 5 mins so I might not have let the ECU larn everything idle was good and solid (maybe even a bit low)really surprising I thought it would idle high... But all in all I'm very happy with the mod we'll see how thirsty the car is at the pumps I'll keep you guys updated...

Its all easy stuff the ecu is 2 bolts the MAF 3 clips and a hose clamp, the TB is 4 bolts and a hose clamp. Could all be swapped in an hour and a half need help ask hear I'm sure someone could help....
