Hi,

Just wondering if you guys think it's worth me putting on a webber on my 4G15 carby.
Do you get much gain out of the webber 32/36mm? What sorta performance do you get out of it?

Also can you get a induction sound from a good filter set up on the webber?

Thanks for any help,

Scott

Sure it's worth it. The gain will be noticeable, but I don't know a HP number. And yes, it will sound cool.

I'm doing that too, but how are you going to install it onto the manifold? I think I may be doing it a long winded way :)

Also what sort of webber are u getting?

Thanks for the help. I hope the indution noise is wicked.

See ya. Let me know how you go with your webber.

I used to have great fun scaring the pedestrians at crosswalks with my old 32/26 Weber setup. With a 'sports filter' you get an especially LOUD induction noise.

If you think that's good - with the 4G61T setup in my car now, since I have the MAP based Haltech with no MAFS and the K&N filter in the front guard recess there is huge amount of spool/induction noise coming from the turbo. Most people just look at me like there is something seriously wrong with my car! LOL!

Hi,

Um.....Xlr8, are where are u based are u in Australia?

How much did it cost you to get the webber setup?

Also did you get a gain in HP by putting the webber on? Was the acceleration good?

Thanks for your help, your 4G61T setup sounds sweet.

Scott

Just another quick one

Is the induction noise deep and throaty or is a loud and squeal?

Thanks

I would say the induction noise would be lower, and throatier. A webber has bigger intakes, so it would suck more air thru a bigger hole kinda like a muffler, bigger hole, lower note. I noticed with the 4g15 when you put it at between 6000 and 6500 it developes a wicked induction scream, almost like a turbo. F*** this engine still impresses me! Thanx for convincing me to push my engine a lil harder Honda Hunter, it turns heads!!!

Im based in Perth like it says in my profile. :D

The 32/36 Weber gave my 4G15 carb Excel a huge wakeup (was back in 1991 when I fitted it). It cost me nothing as it was an experimental project for my old man's company which was the importer for Hyundai at the time. I think they retail at around $400-600 new although second hand they are much cheaper. As long as it's jetted for a 1.5L-1.8L engine it should work ok.

The noise is 2-part, first is a massive "sssssssss" sucking noise combined with a deep, loud gutteral induction roar when you go WOT. I had a stock 1.5" exhaust when I first fitted it and I could hear a massive pressure build-up at the first resonator under my feet. I then had a 2" press bent exhaust fitted which woke the top-end up enormously especially after I fitted roller-rockers from the X2 EFI motor I was building.

Some advice however: make sure that you loctite the filter retaining screws on the carby so that you dont FUBAR your motor when it sucks one down the chokes like what happened to mine. Boy that made a mess! I was lucky I had the X2 EFI motor ready to go...

Thanks for the information,

The induction sound, seems to be pritty cool. Did you get better acceleration for take off and stuff?

And was the induction loun enough so other people around the street would here ya comin?

Cool, I am pritty keen to get a webber, as i already have an exhaust on it.

Scott

If you have 12valve 4G15 carby, I think you can use this redline Weber adaptor, part number 99004.550. Check out http://www.jameng.com/products/index.phtml?section=11

I haven't used the adaptor because the hole will still be 42mm. I am fully machine a block of aluminium to go between my manifold and weber with smooth curves. My modified manifold will be installed tomorrow, but running with the stock carb as I haven't quite finished the aluminium block. Cutting and shpaing curves in an inch thick block takes time!
