All the X2 exhaust manifolds I have ever seen are cast iron. If it was a tubular style manifold then I would say that it was probably aftermarket.

Also, a round port manifold on a square port head would be absolutely horrible to say the least! You would get massive reversion of the exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber polluting the intake charge.

I did the swap. The Hyundai exhaust manifold is round and somewhat smaller than the Mitsubishi part. Porting is possible but because the Hyundai part uses round runners as opposed to rectangular you can only open the throats up so far. I don't know how much cross-sectional area is lost, a fair amount judging from visual inspection. I am not noticing any big improvements in low end torque, but on the other hand, I haven't noticed a loss in HP at high rpm. Hard to tell, it's a 3-speed :-? All in all I would say the swap is doable. If you're putt-putting around like me it's fine.

PS: I expect drivability to improve when I install and connect an O2 sensor. I just plugged the hole with the old unit til I get a new one.

i live in arizona so i can get you any part rust free (even steel exaust manifolds) at wrecker cost, why lose power when you can get a stock one from me for less, im wondering if high temp engine paint(or exaust wrap) will ward off corrosion for a while if anyone needs rust free used parts and there is a fairly high demand or just a one time deal come talk to me. 480-570-8777

by rust free i mean little or no surface rust (eg... no holes  )
i think this is the only reason i stay in the hell hole i call phoenix

Evotistical, do you work in a slavage yard? I'm a dismantler here. Also i have family in pheonix. Was out there visiting a few weeks ago. Been thinking of moving down there. What do you know if anything about the "yards" there and job availability?
