Hi,
Im in Australia, and it was hard to find much info on this.
I have a 1992 Lancer GSR 1.6 DOHC 4g61. It came standard with Bucket seats spoiler and skirts, sports stearing wheel/suspension white dial takkos and no TURBO:(
Can i make a 4g61 into 4g61t cheaply?
Has anyone done this?
My car must be the only non turbo GSR made :-?
any other sugestions, cheap starts,
i have K&N air filter, should i cut the box?
2"exhaust, will extracters help.

you wont get the same power.
You shouldn't have a hard time finding parts in austrailia.
just find a motor and wire harness it wont be hard.

what the other guys said.

Find a 4g63t and put in the car. You won't be disappointed that way. If you can't find one, then you can turbo your engine, but with the NT pistons and ECU, you won't be able to run as much boost.

Can you take some engine bay and interior pictures of your car for us? Is yours the AWD version?

Sometime when you have a free moment, can you get a shot of your front brakes without the wheel and tire in the way.

Oh yeah, you may want to put your location in your profile. If you come back often it will help save some confusion when people give you answers to questions.

You know Australia is a big country - not many people, but alot of empty space between places. The city I live in (Perth) is ~2100km (1320miles) from the nearest other city and WA is about the same size as Europe!

Thankfully the internet is good for reducing the distance tyranny and Im around to call some of you fellas "post whores" and the like.

I figured you weren't close to him, but you are in his neck of the woods so to speak. You seem to have your foot in the automotive industry, thus you might be able to direct him to where he might find what he's looking for.
1st place that comes to mind is Adelaide...... :D

Hey,
im in Perth WA and i know a few places like RPW and cypher, but still costly (im no Mechanic) and i dont have the cash yet so still getting info. What car is My 1.6 Lancer GSR over there, we had Colts, Mirages and Lancers here from Mitsubishi but no Mirage turbo or cyborge or colt GT. i guess the verdict is to find a 4g63t half cut and complete exchange, i guess thats about $Aus 5000 fitted here. for now i might try cutting the airfilter box since the air sensor stopped me from getting a pod filter, and il staighten the exhaust, i like this little engine its a shame to have to chuck it. thanks for all the advice[/img]
