is there any low temp thermostats/performance avail for our 4g15 engines? or can we use from any model that will also fits our cars. |

correct me if im wrong, i guess most performance aftermarket thermostats are low temp ones w/c activate at lower temps rather than waiting for the temps to go higher before opening, making cooling efficient.

Efficient cooling really only happens with the rad and flow. Thermostats that are too low for the opening temperature, can contribute to less "cleaning" of moisture from the oil, not allow the oil to get up to temperature, and can inhibit sensors reaching their trigger points in the ECU. Lots of people do this sort of mod, but it's not really justifiable unless you can't afford anything else. If something is causing you to overheat, then that is the issue to address. Only in that case would I be concerned about overheating, best to leave the thermostat at 192 or whatever the stock 4g15 takes. Oh, those cleaning issues would mainly be in the winter season as much as anything, but it holds true of running the engine anytime; especially short trip related. Hope that helps. |

ok. thanks for that explanation. so when do you recommend to replace the thermostats? should it be when replacing the water pump? |

When you put in a new water pump is a good time to replace them. Or when you first acquire a new car and have no clue when the last time it had any kind of service and so forth. |
