I'm wanting to change the tranny oil in the colt, it's a 1989 Dodge Colt 1.5 4 speed. I'm having trouble finding the drain plug and and cap where to fill up the new oil. Where are these two located on the transmission? Also, does the 4 speed use a filter in the tranny?

I'm assuming this is a manual tranny since you say its a 4 speed? If so there is a 24mm bolt down by the passenger's side axle, that is the drain plug. There is a 17mm bolt on the front of the tranny close to the back up light switch. It would be wise to break this one loose first before draining the old oil. With the car sitting level fill the tranny until oil starts to run out, it will be about 2 1/2 quarts I believe. No filters on the manual trannies.

If its an auto, there should be a drain plug on the pan and once the fluid is out you drop the pan to replace the filter.

Thanks Mirageman, it is a manual tranny. Not sure when the last time the oil was changed in it so it's gonna be interesting to see what comes out. Thanks again
