I was on Rock Auto page today looking at thermostats. Several different manufacturers claimed to be the OE temp but they ranged from 180 to 195 degrees. Does anybody know what is the proper temp? |

It's in the FSM: www.lilevo.com/mirage/ I'm a fan of running a hot (factory) spec thermostat regardless of what climate you drive in as long as your cooling system is operating properly. I still don't know why, other than accountants getting cheap on the consumer, that they would put half size rads in the 4g15 Colts/Mirages that were US delivered. |

Assuming that your gauge is reading accurately, you are potentially overheating. 220-230F is bad news zone IMHO. Do you have a half size radiator - ie is only takes up half the length of the rad support like smaller Honda sized rads? |

That seems normal. Stock stats are 190ish, the carryover heat will get it up to 200+ easily. Throw in a 160/170 stat and it'll drop. Manufacturers run stock engines hot to help with emissions. |
