Is this an interference engine? I thought for sure it wasn't, but now I'm not so certain...

It means that when your timing belt snaps, you bend the valves and wreck the head cause everything suddenly hits the pistons.:)

On a more technical note, it just means that the pistons and valves are VERY close together so if they happen to get out of synch (as in a snapped timing belt) then they collide. *Boom*
