I had a succesfull conversion/upgrade on my 4G15 8V 4 speed tranny to 5 speed tranny.

Is anyone here try this without issue after conversion?

My problem is my speedometer needles rattles at 60KPH and it seems that my car can't accelerate more even pressing the gas pedal.

is this a problem or issue on incompatibility of engine and tranny? thanks in advance..

Its a direct swap. The needle movement is not due to the swap-but due to an issue int he speedo cable system (worn drive gear, worn cable, cluster input needs greese....ect.

RPM (gauge) has 100% nothing to do with the trans, unless I dont understand what your saying?

im having an issue after a 4/5 speed swap. Installed the trans and still don't have the 5th gear. wondering if anything in the linkage needs to be changed? or something moved in the shift assy? Or.. i have considered that the trans may just be another 4speed. how do they differ visually? cant seem to find that info..its a 91 dodge colt with the 8v...thanks

Most of the cars that I've seen at the yard had a hydraulic clutch setup if they were 5 speeds, the 3rd gens anyway. If its still a cable clutch which I'm guessing it is since you mention nothing about swapping in the hydro pedal more than likely its just another 4 speed.

I have heard of hydro 4 speeds and cable 5 speeds but I've never seen either stock on a 3g (89-92). Then again we're talking about Mitsubishi so anything is possible.

it was a hydraulic clutch arm. i had to knock out those dowels and swap in my cable arm. besides that it was identical. i was told it was out of a mirage...

I think you installed another 4 speed tranny.....if the tranny is still on the car try to look for the shiftknob it has only 1,2,3,4 and R..for the tranny itself i don't have idea..

With the car off, clutch pushed in, if you cant put it in 5th gear you have a 4 speed trans. Make sure you got the speedo cable seated well into its socket on the trans.
