What i observed on my 4G15 EFI 8V engine was the check engine does lit even upon start of the engine. Tried to check but found out that the gauge clucter doesnt have bulb on check engine but when i put bulb on it, still it doesnt work..

My question is, was the check engine light is active on 4G15 8V engine? thanks..

Even the 8v cars have a check engine light that should work. I do not understand why yours is not working upon starting the car.

mabe the wire is faulty or was cut by a previous owner. Could also be an ecu that is dying. I'd like to think its the first issue. but then again it could be that your contacts aren't seated right or you just had 2 bad bulbs.

no busted peanut bulb on my gauge. found out that my ECU is not the original one..it has a labeled local com-box by the previous owner..maybe it came from 4G15 12V EFI sedan..it is OK if the ECU was replaced with ECU that came from a 12V 4G15 engine?

I don't know if you can run a 12-valve ecu on an 8-valve car. Does anyone here know for sure?

Yes u can.

I switch mine out "12v" and put it on a friends car "8v" to see if his was bad. It started right up. Althought he had a EFI not carb.

Well i dont know about that.

Guys check engine light was on before we switch ECU's, because of o2 wire not pluged up.
