well instead of doing my 63t swap i am going to turbo the 1.5.
i am going to use a afc ,adj fpr and a 50 trim with external gate 2.25 ic piping and a fmic. i was not sure wat injectors to go with ? i will be running around 10 psi and a full 2.5 exhaust . anyone on here have a turboed 1.5 i was wondering how they worked out.
thanx
steve

Sounds like a bad and more expensive idea then just doing a 4g63 swap. Are you looking to do something different?

It wouldn't work out too well, buddy. You were originally thinking of just doing a 63 swap?

The 4G15 is not a good platform for forced induction. You will break it, I can guarantee it. Don't even waste your time doing something like this.

There are a few who were able to do it on our board, and from the 4th gen boards. as long as you use moderate boost (under 7psi) I don't see why it wouldn't work for the cheap.

For a bit more money, you can also raise boost pressure by getting a thick head gasket or stacking them. I would say anything over dsm injectors(you need to wire in a resistor pack to use these) would be too much. aim for 175 hp. you need to get some kind of fuel managment. If you like programing/soldering mega squirt is the cheapest option. search around I have seen a couple people on this board with a 4g15t.

 If done right though, I could see you making 300hp like some of the turbo honduh 1.5's out there, but that would require alot of money/work.

No, that is not happening, not on a SOHC 4G15.

I don't see how that would be more cost effective then just a 4g63t swap? Unless he's trying to be different I'd stick with a very well documented and fairly easy swap instead of turboing the lil 1.5

The 63t swap is the best way to go.

In my honest opinion, you don't work with a setup that was never intended for turbocharging, unless you have money money money and lots of it to buy brick-house 4g15 rods and pistons. And even then I still wouldn't feel confident that would be enough, and I am not talking about adding the necessary fuel system to the mix. That being said, I know that it can be done....because almost anything can be done. When you break it down though, it's simply the wrong route to go, when you can just literally drop in a motor that was intended for the abuse.

The only other exception I can speak of is.......none :)

It sounds like someone is trying to be cheap and not do a 4g63t swap. So in the end it will cost you what a 4g63 swap would have if not more. As stated above im sure it could handle 7psi without any issues but any more than that would not be good.
