Okay, you're probably right then.

Damn, I'm confusing everything with anything at the moment! Cordias with Starions, 1G and 2G, 420A and 4G63....
I'm sorry for any inconveniences caused by this.

Basically, the engines are the same - just the mounts that are different. Correct or not?

As far as I've read, it's generally agreed that the engine components (internals) in the VR4 engine are stronger than the Evo 1/2/3 equivalent anyway.

Just a shame we don't get ANYTHING with the earlier engine in it over here - we've never had Galant VR4s, Evos (import only till recent models) or DSMs here at all. :-(

Well, if you want to get into the nitty gritty with the differences, they're two very different motors. The mounts aren't the only differences. Any gearhead or techno geek with intimate knowledge could go on for pages as far as the exact differences. But no need for that. They're similar, but different enough that they're not easily interchangeable.

As far as the GVR-4's being stronger than the Evo, I can't say for sure. I'd say it's a toss up with a slight advantage in the Evo's favor in my opinion. I just know they have stonger internals, where as the GVR-4 were just more run of the mill parts.

lets get back to the subject 6-speed 4g63
where there is a will there's a way!!!!!!!!!!

now the basics
4g63 fwd f5m22
4g63 awd w5m33

6g72 fwd f5m22
6g72 awd :
- 5sp w5mg1
- 6sp w6mg1

all these trannies have similar gearbox housings
but the clutch housing are different, from clutch housing to gearbox bolt pattern looks identical

things to consider
the input shaft has 25 splines and what does the have 4g63?
the rear end on the 6-speed has a different gear ratio than all the 5speeds models.(3.307) or (43gear/13pinion teeth count) this is for the 6sp
good luck finding a rear end and tranny $$$

i would love complete this swap or at see it done for more info on the these 3000gt trannys and detailed pics refer to
http://www.stealth316.com/2-awd2.htm#Transaxle

this swap is possible! i believe, if this has been helpful let me know if this is a swap that anyone is attempting let me know and plz post pics

Try again. The AWD 3Si boxes were made by Getrag. So, not compatiable.

Only the F5M33 used on the NA fwd is similiar with the exception of the engine side case section.

It's not going to work, unless you get an adapter made.

I'm just being realistic.

Using your logic, Ford and GM transmissions look similar. Looks like I can swap parts between the two. See the illogic?

If was as easy as swapping internal parts, Shep, TRE or Jack would have done it by now.

Who made the tranny is irrelevent, the size of the gears and how they fit is all that matters.
