I've got a 1989 Hyundai Excel 3 Dr. It's a 1.5L feedback carbed MCA headed 4 Spd (P.S. IT'S A KM200 TRANNY!!!)
I can get the Complete 4G15, wiring harness, and ECU for $300. I know I'll have to upgrade the fuel system for the EFI, but is this as easy of a swap as I think it is?

P.S. anybody need a G4AJ Hyundai motor?

KM200 trans - are you sure? I would have expected that car to have the KM161 trans which is the 4spd version of the air-shifted KM162. What type of gear shift linkages does it have?

Keep the G4AJ block if it is in good condition since it has flat-top pistons. I bought just the EFI head and bolted that onto a rebuilt and balanced G4AJ block when I did the original EFI conversion into my X1. Since the G4DJ is mounted at an slant you cant use the same sump and oil pickup you need to swap over the G4AJ stuff to make them work.

You can get an EFI fuel tank (with in-tank pump) and pressure lines from a X2 Excel which simply drops in with a little tweaking of the lines. You just need to run a power harness from the ECU control relay to the tank for the pump. You need a ECU control relay from an X2 or similar to make this all work as it is the interface between the stock electrics and the EFI harness. You may also find that you need to bridge IGN and ON in the starter switch otherwise power gets dropped from the ECU when your cranking and it wont start (have a guess how long it took me to figure that out!).

Sorry I didn't go into detail, I put a new trans. in. It's got the -161 trans now, it was a -200 from the fact. The orig. trans was shot.

I also have some new info... There is a yard up here that has a crapload of 4g61's, mostly colts, but they're cheap and solid. So I'm going to do the 4G61 Turbo route instead, it should bolt straight up right? :axe:

Sorry, I had to laugh at that comment - or else I'd cry.

No the 4G6x motors wont go in the X1 very easilly at all. There is simply not enough room in the engine bay. I'd just say forget it unless you have $$$ and alot of time on your hands.
