If you want to know the ccs of your combustion chamber, just bolt the head on to the motor, pick a cylinder, and turn that piston to top dead center. Then remove spark plug and use a suryinge that measures ccs. Fill until you reach the spark plug hole. Keep count how many time you have to inject the fluid. Use Marvelous mystery oil, it will not harm your motor. When done you will then know how many ccs the chamber will hold and you will have your answer. Then just suck majority of the liquid out. Motor might smoke alittle on start up but it will go away after it burns off the oil. If you use motor oil it will smoke for a while.

Well, I could do what you mentioned mysteryman, but as my rings haven't even been around the block following a complete rebuild, I just don't want to chance all that extra oil in a VERY clean top end right now.

But one other thing that would come into play would be that the top piston ring sits a way down the bore from the top surface of the head; this would lead to quite a misleading number I figure. I realise that this is the "actual" cumbustion chamber volume as you were getting at, but why get dirty if someone can give you the numbers while typing at a keyboard! 8)

One other problem is that the only measured tool that I have procured to date, is a 1 cc dropper from the pharmacy. I think it's a diabetic syringe. There would be a whole lot of pumping to do with something that small.

Just as a fun thing, I'm going to check the compression on the cylinders to see if they either stabilize slightly with time (and break-in) and to see if they have been upped slightly as the numbers would indicate.

Thanks for the idea all the same.
