Picked up a absolutely mint 5-speed 1.5L colt hatch as a daily. why a daily? because i needed one and this thing had 97 thousand miles on it, and i bought it for a grand. had new battery , coils, and fluids when i bought it.

Kicker is in the title, she hat for 17 years in a garage it seems, if anything it was off the ground and covered by the looks of it and my area.

shes been ran very little because not registered yet but i know already i need to do Rad hoses, this weekend.
anything specific i should replace ASAP? im going to be slowly doing brakes (not that bad but kinda rusty), brake lines, clutch cables, etc but wasn't sure if there was anything particularly prone to dryrot on these cars

TIMING BELT!!. These are good for 60k miles or 8 years. Replace it or she may be sitting for a while again...

What should I expect to pay to get it replaced on the 1.5l? This is one thing I would rather not do myself

The sohc are super simple and with a few basic hand tools can get knocked out pretty quick...

Otherwise probably close to 500 at a shop. I wouldn't even drive it. Tow it there.

ok so doing the timing belt and water pump this weekend have replaced all fluids, rad hoses, thermostat and water outlet gasket.

now i've got a whole different problem, i replaced the ecu because of an intermittent start, she started up one time with the new ecu after sitting for a week wont start after that one time. going after fuel this weekend otherwise i don't know what else to do

Might not be the ecu. I've had the distributor cause an intermittent no run issue on two 1.5l cars.

Tap the distributor base with a hammer a couple of times. It will probably help for short term use.

If it doesn't crank, check the small spade terminal at the starter.
